The September 25th
Board meeting has been cancelled, and rescheduled for Wednesday, October 3rd.

Alex Anemone

Dear Parents/Guardians:

On behalf of the Board of Education, I would like to welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year. Since last year, our District has experienced many changes. We hired new staff members, developed new curricula and programs that will assist us in meeting our new District goals. Moreover, our construction projects – Macopin Greenhouse and WMHS Greenhouse – are well underway.

In May, the Board of Education collaboratively developed and approved five (5) goals for the 2018-2019 school year:

1. Increase academic performance by continuing to implement and improve Differentiated Instruction for all learners through increased student engagement, timely and targeted intervention, and individual student learning goals.
2. Implement an action plan for K-12 math based on District Goal #3 for school year 2017-2018.
3. Increase focus on student health, well-being, safety, and security.
4. Improve student writing across the curriculum through targeted instruction, professional development, and increased opportunities in terms of expectations, oversight, and transparency.
5. Explore all opportunities for District-wide cost efficiencies in order to maximize funding for District programs.
All the information you need for your child this year can be found on our website or the parent portal. You can log on to to find this information. Student schedules will be available on Wednesday, August 15. Bus passes will also be made available on the parent portal on Wednesday, August 15. You will need to
print your child’s bus pass so that he/she will be allowed to ride the bus on the first day of school. If you have any bus pass questions, please contact the Transportation Department at 973-697-0777.

All students will report to their assigned schools on Thursday, September 6, 2018, at their scheduled time. If you have any questions regarding the information on our website, please contact your child’s school.

I hope you enjoy the balance of summer with your families and loved ones. Go Highlanders!
