As a West Milford High School graduate and local resident, it is a great honor to serve in the West Milford School District as your Director of Special Services. I have been committed to the field of special education since my career’s inception, first as an occupational therapist, and now as an administrator. I have confidence that my past special education expertise and administrative experiences will prove beneficial to this school community. As a leader I wholeheartedly love collaboration and being a part of a network of people that are compassionate, dedicated, creative, talented, and student focused. Further, I believe that incredible benefits can be achieved by partnering with families in the education of their children. As we join together to ensure the success of our students, I wish everyone a happy and healthy school year.

Mr. Roberto Mendez, M.A.
Supervisor of Special Services

I am extremely excited about the opportunity to serve as West Milford’s Supervisor of Special Services.  I am looking forward to working collaboratively with our students, parents, teachers, and the entire West Milford community.  I have been in the field of special education for the past 17 years.  I began my career as a Child Study Team School Social Worker for 15 years.  Most recently, I served as a Vice Principal for Special Education.  I have a 20 year clinical background servicing students and families.  I possess a Master of Arts Degree in Administration and Supervision from Montclair State University coupled with New Jersey Principal, Supervisor, and School Social Work certificates.  I am passionate about providing our students with the most appropriate educational programs and services, while individually addressing their developmental needs.

Mr. Mendez resides in Nutley with his wife, Jennifer and is the proud father of three sons.
